What are the interactions of laser light with biologic tissue?
From the biochemical perspective the absorption of photons leads to:
– An increase of ATP (the fuel we run on) production
– Keratinocytes (hair building cells) are activated
– Fibroblasts start to migrate and to repair
– The immune system gets activated (macrophages are activated)
– Release of nitric oxide – capillaries dilate
– Alkalizing of tissue
That sounds all a little theoretical – so what are the clinical effects we can see?
– Reduced spasm/pain relief/increased circulation
– Improved flexibility and function/improved healing
– Reduced symptoms associated with osteoarthritis
The absorption of photons is an uptake of energy that obviously helps to rebalance, repair and restore cells and tissues. Therefore it may be helpful for any chronical inflammatory process (like Lyme), degenerative processes (like dementia) and as well to mitigate metabolic conditions (high blood sugar, high cholesterol etc.).
To be continued…..
