LISTEN TO THE PLANTS: LEMON-INGWER-HONEY SHOT

By Dr. med. Claudia Schmiemann

One of my winter favorites: home- made ginger lemon honey shot.

I prepare 2 whole organic ginger roots and squeeze 6 lemons. To get the benefit from honey I like to add 3 table spoons of raw unpasteurized honey. Add water to make it as liquid as you want it to. Whoever is brave can also add garlic or turmeric to it. Blend it and fill it in a bottle that you can store in your fridge. It will last up to ten days and you don´t have to deal with all ingredients on a daily basis. Enjoy a shot every day!

With ginger you get gingerol that is anti-inflammatory and works as an antioxidant. It provides lots of fiber as well. Already 1-2 g of ginger can stop nausea. This can be helpful for chemo patients. Moreover it has blood sugar lowering abilities and heart and blood vessel improving properties. There are studies that suggest that gingerol is helpful against age related brain degeneration and can improve brain function.

The abundance of vitamin C in lemons provides a huge immune boost. They contain bioflavonoids that fight chronic inflammation. It can contribute to prevent the building of gall bladder and kidney stones and alkalizes the body. That explains why we like to use it in any detox regime.

The shot is an easy, tasty and healthy way to start a new day.
